Who will benefit from GESS?

GESS activities will primarily benefit 200,000 girls in upper-primary and secondary schools across all of the former ten states of South Sudan. An estimated 300,000 boys will also benefit from the improved learning environment.

Education management will benefit from the introduction of an electronic attendance monitoring system – South Sudan School Attendance Monitoring Systems (SSSAMS), known locally as Ana Fii Inni (I am here in Arabic). Teachers and education managers will receive training and their strengthened skills will improve the quality of education. Parents and communities will be targeted through awareness raising activities, aimed at improving their understanding of the value of education and changing attitudes towards girls’ education.
