GESS Management

The GESS programme receives £70 million (GBP) of UK aid from the UK Government, $19.2 million (CAD) from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada and $10 million (USD) from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI) leads the GESS programme, supported by implementing partners who provide technical advice.

Implementing partners include the lead, Cambridge Education – a member of the Mott MacDonald group; BBC Media Action; Montrose; Leonard Cheshire and Windle Trust International.

At State and County level, the State Ministries of General Education and Instruction (SMoGEI) take the lead in programme implementation, supported by partner NGOs, or what we call ‘GESS State Anchors’.
