Today is World Humanitarian Day!

Girls’ Education South Sudan (GESS) joins the world in recognising the tremendous work of aid workers across the world, and in South Sudan in particular.

We applaud all the efforts of our partners in the education sector who work tirelessly to keep education on the agenda, even during crises. Navigating through floods, amongst other difficult conditions, our team has pushed through adverse conditions to ensure that learners in South Sudan get a better education!

With funding from UK aid and the Government of Canada, GESS continues to support children in South Sudan to get better education.

GESS, together with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI), supports schools across the country with Capitation Grants to help the schools meet their needs. Such needs include renovating school facilities which have been destroyed due to conflict and/or natural disasters like flooding.

Our colleagues on the groundwork tirelessly to help schools to qualify for Capitation Grants, and to verify their correct use.

Our new video shows how Capitation Grants can be used in practice, and how they are helping schools across the country to improve teaching and learning conditions. Watch it, here:
