Around the world, families and communities face a great deal of uncertainty amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. With school closures and physical distancing, children in South Sudan are seeing their daily routines change due to COVID-19 and may not understand why.

Together with Pangea Publishing, we developed a book called ‘The Unwelcome Stranger’ to provide important public health information on COVID-19 through a narrative that empowers parents to discuss this subject with their children.

Home schooling and remote learning have become the new normal during the pandemic. While learning does not look like it did before it does not have to stop completely. Included with the book are project-based learning activities families can complete with children while they are home from school.

We are distributing 5,500 copies of the book to children across South Sudan as part of our mentoring scheme.

If you or your children receive a copy, do let us know what you think!
